The New York artist Alex Katz is one of the most influential artists on the contemporary US-American art scene. His reductive, bold paintings of women wearing hats and his depictions of party situations in striking colours gained him fame in the 1970s as a chronicler of everyday life. Today, they are art history icons.

Im Rahmen ihrer AUSSER HAUS-Projekte lädt die Kunsthalle Tübingen in loser Folge Künstlerinnen und Künstler ein, auf den öffentlichen Raum in Tübingen zu reagieren. Als drittes Projekt in der Reihe hat der Berliner Künstler Bernd Ribbeck für das Format AUSSER HAUS gegenüber der Kunsthalle eine große Fassadenarbeit realisiert. Diese setzt in seinem Werk im Wortsinn neue Maßstäbe.

The conversion of the Kunsthalle Foundation Building into a modern art studio was designed by the renowned office Lederer Ragnarsdóttir Oei and implemented by the company Mey Generalbau GmbH.

In der KUNSTHALLE FÜR ANFÄNGER*INNEN blicken wir in der Ausstellung auf die Bilder von Alex Katz. Gemeinsam erkunden wir ihre Entwicklung im Laufe der Jahrzehnte. Dieser Rundgang durch die Ausstellung ist in leichter, klarer Sprachegehalten – für alle Neueinsteiger*innen in die Kunstwelt genau das Richtige.
